My family calls me Iko-Ọjọ (eeko-orjor), which is short for God’s time is the best. Most people know me by my middle name, Mercy. There are some interesting stories behind my names, maybe one day I’ll tell you.

I am a portrait and documentary photographer passionate about capturing the precious and fleeting moments of motherhood and family life. I spent the last four years almost exclusively documenting pregnancies and other family milestones, some of which you can see here. I am now expanding my practice to include more long term documentary projects. I also enjoy blogging about my parenting journey, filmmaking and other creative arts.

In addition to my creative work, I co-present Parentland, a BBC World Service podcast that investigates everyday parenting questions through the lens of scientific research and global cultural practices.

I was born and raised in Nigeria and spent my teenage years in France. I currently live in Kent with my husband, my 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter.
